When it comes to Thai politics, it might be a jungle out there, but there's no need to pull innocent animals into the fray.
WILD KINGDOM: Members of the For Heaven and Earth Party wear various animal masks to encourage voters on Silom Road to ‘vote no’ in the July 3 general election.
That was the message at a seminar held by the Thai Veterinary Medical Association focusing on the use of animals by the For Heaven and Earth Party in posters promoting the group's "no vote" campaign.

PAD doesnt want change that is why vot no campaign. If PAD wants change, they would participate in political process. Encourage people to vote no means 4 more years of the same thing. If people wants changes, they need to come out in full force and vote.

These placards are just plain insulting. The Santi Asoke Buddhist Sect and the People's Alliance for Democracy should be ashamed of themselves. Who wants people running the country who think like that? Putting people down like that just because they have different political beliefs. Do they think they demonstrate "Thai-ness". Where are those of higher beliefs that can step in and stop this.

Educated people vote with their head. Many poor and ill-educated treat the vote paper as a 500 Baht bill. This is exactly the reason why one person one vote system does not work, at least in Thailand and other 3rd world countries. Someone did post a great system earlier. Thailand can choose the 500 most educated people in a country, give them the power to appoint a government.

The PADs are becoming very disrespectful to the Thai society. I was stuck in traffic on Wireless Road for half an hour this afternoon, which was caused by their rally. From the scene of the people involved, I could tell that most of them were pure labourers. If the leaders of the PADs are unhappy with the current politics and want people to vote "No", then who would be running the country? If they want to recommend something, they should also come up with a solution. I do not see any difference between them and the Reds, where they just rally for the sake of their bosses, without really wanting to achieve anything.

I can understan the objections on behalf of animals being compared to politicians because animals are totally despised by most Thais. Personally, I would rate most animals as being more intelligent and with a higher moral position than many Thai politicians red shirts and yellow shirts.

Hi, # Abbub - a fine point -- 'democracy is accepting the majority vote. even if it displeases us..' the party which wins and forms a Government is for all the people of the country, irrespective of whom they voted for.. -- so also, the Opposition is for all the people of the country. There are many people who cannot vote because they are outside their provinces, and ignorant of the formalities and deadlines. To make this a real peoples' elections, please use technology and resources to allow maximum participation. Yet the posters yet display a subtle and futile reality, of the elections and the parliamentarians to-be.

IVY: That is elitist thinking, something the early democracies tried to deal with by according the vote inly to the aristocracy, wealthy business owners and land owners. Even in the US the system was set up to try to make sure the actual people's vote could not be the final decision. Ivy I think you cannot put yourself and "educated" people up on a pedestal like that. educated does not necessarily equate with ethical, honest, compassionate, caring...etceteras etceteras. The educated are for the most part wealthier than the uneducated. Consequently they will almost always vote for the status quo. Denying people the right to vote because of social class, ethnicity or sex is a thing of the past. Many have fought and struggled throughout the entire 20th century to overcome such elitist thinking. If we follow your way of thinking we can choose the 500 most educated people in a country, give them the power to appoint a government. You and I and everyone else knows the logical and ultimate conclusion of your argument is unthinkable.
