Post this to my Facebook
At least people will know who to vote between Saturday and Sunday midnight if they want to avoid this kind of censorship in the future. Anybody that has lived in a true democracy knows the last minutes effort by parties to pull voters. What we see in Thailand is more the old Soviet style or the way Robert Mugabe in Zimbabwe practices his brand of democracy. Still there is a difference, Vodka was still premited in the USSR during elections.

Are the Democrats the brainchild of these restrictions on peoples freedom ?

This is precisely the problem when some grumpy old men in pampers draw up rules. Men who probably do not understand the nature of the internet and the same men who refuse to give Thailand 3G whereas Cambodia moves to 4G. Let's all start promoting the Democrat Party on our blogs and Facebook pages (better not use Facebook, it will open a can of worms) Asking people to go to the polls criticizing parties and above all crooked officials is a good thing, not a bad thing, although it might selectively be used against the opposition to rob them from a victory. after all we never know who is doing the favor promoting candidates online. Just like lese majesty laws and computer crime laws have been used against the opposition this absurd rule will be used against them too. But we could help the commission a bit of course by all starting blogging for the Democrats to vote for. Next time when the Democrat Party has lost 6 elections in a row, sex will be forbidden too by the way.

...I am simply lost for words! The police can not effectively get childporn of the streets (seen it 4 days ago on Silom), but will monitor the internet? The word "delusional" comes to mind...and obviously some people really need a time with no alcohol. But it's clearly not the public...

Well, obviously the Booze Ban has a thousand easy workarounds. What’s more lamentable is the naive and idiotic pronouncement on restrictions on freedom of expression. Here’s an idea: instead of wasting police time on scanning wall postings for - what, exactly? - why not divert these costs into building a national Internet service worthy of the name, instead of the sad apology currently inflicted on the long-suffering user. By the way, do make use of the 1599 hotline. No prank calls, please.

The voting ends at 3pm, yet the sale of alcohol is banned for a further nine hours. Would the police spokesman who announced the ban care to explain the logic to this? Obviously the ban has nothing to do with voting, because the voting would be over.

How do one define 'political campaigning by the general public'? What is the purpose of this ban? Should there be a ban against political discussions, not only on the net, but also in the newspapers, on the street, around the dinner table etc? I do not understand, but then I am a red shirt supporter...

The police are delusional as usual, they don't know what they are talking about, there is no law against doing this.

how on earth would a alcohol ban be effective when nobody gives a dam about alcohol enforcement.
