Post this to my Facebook
johninbkk (d ). The changes you talk of do not change a parties popularity which was the basis of my comment. They only changed the allocation of seats which made the 2011 election more democratic and benefitted all parties equally. Your claim of attempted cheating is ridiculous because, although the proportional vote was increased, all outcomes are fair as seats are allocated based on popularity and give proportional representation.

"Yingluck promised not to work for Thaksin, but this government is doing only one thing now ,get Thaksin back." Where is your proof of these lies. Apparently you never learned to read. You only believe these lies because you are stupid and misinformed by stupid people. You yellow shirts put words in peoples mouths that they didn't say. You are all fools. If I asked you what democracy is you would explain dictatorship. I'm not putting the words in your mouth. These are the words that have been posted my yellow shirts in BP for a long time. Grow up and get an education. You say PT says this or that...well that's your own lies your spreading. You all should go to court and be sued for defamation. Tell the truth and you will be believed. It's really that simple.

Elviajero needs to take a math course. And read the 2007 results. How many seats did the Dems win? How many seats did the PPP win? Please, facts, only, and all the facts, please. If E. thinks the Dems won, why was a coup "necessary"?

#61 Banmebkk, My sentiments completely, I've seen a few coups as well. Basically what is worse or is it the same, a coup or winning through vote buying. It is much more peaceful after a coup when all the low life politicians shut up. And however you look at it, the boys in green get their toys anyway. I remember Anand Panyarachun who was put in place by coup leaders, one of the best we ever had, and he was NOT democratically elected but dictatorial put in place. I only believe in one man one vote if we all reached an understanding what democracy really implicates. Promising tablets is just a gimmick by the S family who are actually abusing democracy to get to the riches of Thailand.

elviajero D62 - In 2011, the Dem Party changed the election law, reducing the constituency vote from multi-seat to single-seat constituencies, and then increasing the proportional party list MPs. Why would they do this? In 2007, the Dem Party lost the constituency vote but won the proportional party list vote. By manipulating the election law, the Dem Party attempted to cheat the 2011 vote.

And now PT thinks they won a landslide victory and can do whatever they want. They actaully won 53% of the seats. That's slightly more than half. A landslide would be 65% up or so. Only 4% of the population need to change their mind and PT is down the drain.

johnb (d60). My facts are 100% correct. I said "more VOTERS voted for the DP than the PPP". Electors in the 07 election were asked to vote for a Party (proportional/party list) and an MP (constituency) giving each VOTER at least 2 votes. The Party/proportional vote was one man one vote and was equal to the number of VOTERS that voted for each party. It's a popularity vote that, by your own figures, the DP won. PPP 14,071,799 Dem 14,084,265. If you need further help understanding the election results, please get back to me.

A coup in Thailand is not the end of the world for thai citizens, yes undemocratic - but if you think about the ex-PM who refused to step down or be investigate, what is your democratic solution of removing someone like that? I've been through several coups in Thailand myself, this last coup is really not as bad as foreigners or people who haven't live here long enough think. This recent coup in thailand is not like a coup back in the 90s or 80s, or Egypt, Syria, Iran, Cuba, etc. I think the army should be the last concern, its the greedy politicains that are doing the most damage to this country.

elviajero 57; as you preach that others got their figures wrong & are misinformed you are the one who is incorrect. You state "Also, more voters voted for the DP than the PPP (in the 2007 general election)". No; Constituency PPP 26,293,456, Dem 21,745,696; Proportional PPP 14,071,799 Dem 14,084,265. That's over 4.5 million votes more for PPP. "Do try and get your facts right.555"
