Post this to my Facebook
"some sort of justice???? " "New year's gift"??? Justice is established in court.period. If justice is done by politicians ....... then chaos and another coup is at hand. If justice is related to breakfast boxes in court.......then justice was restored by the military. As a result.....passport withdrawn. A new passport should be based on the nationality act of the kingdom of Thailand.period.

Think a little bit further! Thaksin will get a new passport with a NEW NAME! Then in the amnesty coming up (maybe some day next week), his NEW name is hidden among the other 26.000 criminals. He will get the amnesty and free to enter the country. Just as simple as thet, my dear Watson

"When Thaksin's passport was cancelled, there was no order from the courts or the police to seize it," So in essence, he's saying that the Democrat government and the FM acted unilaterally and not through the law as we were led to believe.

Howell D 13 : I totally agree, but this is Peua Thai logic x 2. A majority(15 million of a 65 million+ population)and of course the international community understand that Thaksin is innocent. Yes,if the international community consist Bula,Subcoman,Abbub,Majority,Ricefield,Johninbkk and a few more. The rest of the world are fully aware that Thaksin is a criminal corrupt ex-dictator,who skipped bail and this is why only banana republics sold him a citizenship and issued a passport, which I bet didn't come cheap.

'The Pheu Thai Party's clear victory in the July 3, 2010 general election, was proof to the international community that Thaksin had been defamed by his political opponents and he is innocent, he added.' Absurd nonsense ! This man is supposed to be a lawyer ? Duh ! Liar would be a better description.

You never know - Maybe the UK Government might allow Gary Glitter a new passport so he can spend his holidays back in SE Asia. Or would that be the wrong thing for the UK government to do Mr. Foreign Minister? Please tell me why? Your answer may help you to understand your own critics.

As the law regarding passport renewal is every five years,in person,it appears that mr surapong tovichakchaikul is in violation of the law.If not, then a person out of country when their pass- port expires, should be able to have this clown just mail them their renewal. I do not expect this to happen.I would expect the "alledged" government to deny any wrong doing in this matter. This action only proves that the only reason for their existance is the return of the convicted felon,to be able to resume his place as"DICTATOR",usurping all laws in the process. While I do not care for thaksin,I see the problems caused by all the actions to return him to Thailand. He has been gone for years and the country has been doing OK without him.Keep him gone and continue to prosper.Thats my comments, and I thank Bangkok Post for allowing me to post Geezzer

As everyone knows, Thaksin's passport was revoked by former foreign minister and yellow shirt, PAD supporter Kasit. Give the man a break. Reissuing a passport that was revoked as an act of political spite is a million miles away from from granting an amnesty by the back door. Given PT's overwhelming victory in the recent election, it seems to me to be a reasonable compromise, which goes some way towards meeting the clearly expressed wish of the electorate.
