The previous government's handling of last year's red shirt protests was based on tolerance and complied with international standards, Democrat leader Abhisit Vejjajiva said yesterday.
Speaking before talking to police investigators, the former prime minister said operations were undertaken following a court ruling that the protests were unlawful.
"The court ruled that the government was duty-bound to maintain law and order. So the authorities were told to follow the appropriate steps in doing so," he said.

Discussion 77 asks "Were soldiers with M-16's sneaking around in civilian clothing confused for MIB?" Well, they probably were. But also equally probably they were a part of Seh Daeng's self-proclaimed "more than 300 soldiers, trained and ready to fight".

@Disc 79 Crunchy - Agree, even in times of war - it is agree upon that hospitals are off limits to attacks. With the UDD storming hospitals searching for soldiers, and even beating injured people going inside hospitals - those acts are just low and disgusting.

If you play with fire, you will get burn. Enough said. Enough warning was given, police / soldiers moved in with riot gear and was counter with homemade bombs. Simply throwing any homemade explosives or attacking police with weapons will get you shot in any first world country. Many poster here are from first world countries yet they don't think the same applies here. Double standards in some of your judgments?

#74 You know what caused 91 deaths? Putting thousands of people on the streets of the capital city and allowing some of them to be armed and attack other people. That's it. Without UDD weapons, every single person who died last year would still be alive today. You're looking in the wrong place.

It's pointless trying to reach some sort of understanding or reasoning with people who support the red terrorists.

Use of lethal crack down measures causing 92 deaths is a "tolerant" international standard. That's what the then PM AV said.
