The Democrat Party demanded yesterday that Foreign Minister Surapong Tovichakchaikul clarify whether a passport has been issued to former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra.
Democrat Party spokesman Chavanond Intarakomalyasut shows a printout of an email message he said he received from a Foreign Ministry official who claimed the ministry secretly issued a new passport to ousted premier Thaksin Shinawatra on Oct 31.
The demand was made by senior Democrats after an unidentified person claiming to be a Foreign Ministry official allegedly sent an email to the party's spokesman claiming the passport had been issued to Thaksin.

It is very disappointed that the Democrat Party is still holding to the past conflicts within Thailand for reeconciliation efforts. Please consider the feelings and hardship of your comesown country where most Thais are trying to survive on whatever means they can get financial assistance from trhe ruling party and government. Now is the time to heal the wounds of the country instead of prolonging the crisis and deepen the hardship of your very onw country, THAILAND. Nobody wants to be a loser but let us stay calm and think positive to improve the economy, bread and butter on our daily living expenses, working environment, etc. Life is full of bed of roses and we are passsing this world to do good deeds to others before our time comes to leave this world for good. Stop creating havoc for Thailand to live in peace and harmony.

Kasit had a post as an FM for Thailand, the same guy that was joining PAD protesters and blocked the airport. Kasit also said that blocking the airport was fun, good entertainment and good food. Kasit should be in jail, not working as an FM for Thailand, revoking passports without any rights to do so.

Reports from this paper said the previous FM Kasit revoked Thaksin's passport without a court order or police request. So the the FM of the currently elected government has the right to return it. I can only wish Khun Thaksin a long and properous life. Without him the democrats and their splinter group supporters like the PAD will have no reason to exist.

Aaah, the Democrats just don't learn their lesson. They should stop going after one person. When they were in power, they spent most of their time and public money doing this and at the end of the day, they lost out big in the election. TS has not lost his Thai National ID card and he is entitled to have a passport that was politically taken away by AV and Democrat. Now the Democrat must know that who is in power now and the present government has the right to issue a passport to TS. The Court did not order or make any ruling to terminate TS passport? It was AV and company that decide on this. Democrat MP should stop making mountain out of mole hill and start learning from their mistakes if they want to come back in the next election.

Thai people had spoken in the last election. They vote for Pheua Thai party. They want Thaksin back. And this is just to remind those who have hard time to accept: Thai people vote the Democrat out, so respect the ballot and keep quiet.

Forget the politics. If Thai people accept or are ambivalent about a government which ignores the laws of the land, instead of leading by example and upholding them, then is it any wonder why so many foreign criminals find Thailand such an attractive place to seek refuge in and continue with their illegal ways. Actions such as these (if true) will only reinforce the international image of Thailand as a safe haven from foreign criminals and pedophiles, where Thai laws can be interpreted based on the size of a foreign criminals bank balance.

Ultimately, whether or not Thaksin has a passport is moot, it doesn't effect his mobility or ability to interact/interfere with Thailand's governance. What is disturbing is the behind the back maneuvering and slight of hands that PTP government is employing. A good example, the recent pardons, the PTP deliberately threw Thaksin's name into the mix and immediately everyone's attention was fixated on it. While everyone's attention was focused on Thaksin, they quietly sneaked a bunch of UDD followers onto the list and out of jail. The PTP's governance is anything but transparent. And unless they step up and start changing that, Thailand will always remain mired in corrupt politics

What is all the fuss about. Its just a passport. He did not need it,as he has one. I am so sure that all laws where checked also before giving him a normal passport all the I's dotted T's crossed. Are the Dems(yellow shirts) such bad loosers that they will do anything and behave like children. look at the result of the trial in france, 2 years suspendid sentence. That was a far more serious crime. Never forget the airport.A big smoke screen to take peoples attentions away from the airport subject. Why such a big vendetta against him?
