There is no need to reply to concerns expressed by international academics about Section 112 of the Criminal Code, the lese majeste law, because the government has no intention to amend it, Foreign Minister Surapong Tovichakchaikul said on Thursday.
Mr Surapong was referring to a letter from 224 foreign academics from 16 countries to Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra urging the government to consider proposals the Campaign Committee for the Amendment of Article 112 to reform the lese majeste law.
The signatories expressed grave concern over the use of Article 112 and the erosion of basic rights of those charged under it.
