"However, he wants police to get involved as soon as possible" - isn't this one of the problems that is allegedly taking place? Until there is an independent and corruption free body to invetigate complaints against the Police, nothing will change. Perhaps Kuhn Wan should talk to his father about this and get a time frame and some real action. If nothing happens, then his appointment is nothing more than nepotism and another instance of jobs for the boys.

Interesting point made here by AMTD secretary Kittipong Sansern; Thaksin apparently solved the problem but the coup overturned his registration program, and the taxi leaders are suggesting high ranking army are behind the mafia. Well, now that Thaksin is running the show again, let's see how effectively his govt can restore order. Chalerm is mister fixit, he fixed things for his son, see if he can fix this?

The minister needs to visit Phuket...the jewel in Thailand's tourist crown to see the extent of how taxis extort money from tourists and intimidate resorts...they too have protection in high places...why is it Thailand's security forces act more and more like legitimate 'mafia organizations' this behavior brings real shame to the kingdom.. why does the government ignore the problem or are they on the take as well????
