The Election Commission is to issue a red card to Monchai Chartwattanasiri, a Bhumjaithai MP for Buri Ram.
The EC yesterday voted 3-2 to disqualify Mr Monchai, the MP for constituency 5 of the northeastern province, and call a by-election, said EC deputy secretary-general Phuchong Nutrawong.
The EC found Mr Monchai guilty of vote buying. He had called a meeting with about 400 residents and local leaders in tambon Muang Pai of Krasang district on June 4 and 5 last year during which cash had been handed out to all participants. Each was paid 200-300 baht.
