Gala makes baby step to heal divide

Political foes mix atgovt's B10m dinner

Political reconciliation may have taken a small step forward last night as privy councillors mingled with cabinet ministers in a carefully staged 10-million-baht gala dinner orchestrated by the government to give thanks to those assisting last year's flood efforts.

Privy Council president Prem Tinsulanonda is welcomed by Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra to the gala dinner at Government House yesterday. The event was organised to thank agencies and parties involved in last year’s flood relief operations. CHANAT KATANYU

But political observers played down the significance of the event, which marked the first time in years that Privy Council president Prem Tinsulanonda has attended an event hosted by a government tied to ousted former premier Thaksin Shinawatra.

Anyone who spends 6.5 million baht on a light/sound show is either stupid or corrupt, or both. None of these conclusions will restore investors' confidence in Thailand. A government that has contempt for human life will not attract investors.

Every circus needs a clown and we have a few among the posters here; the difference is a clown in a circus makes me laughing but those just the opposite! The flood victims are happy to suffer as long as some ignorant self-serving others can have a party!

D35 khunbj; Comments about a thoughtless act of PTP's does not mean posters are yellow supporter.

How shallow does PTP look after flushing 10 million down the drain in one night on food and booze and what the King just did with the same amount. How much per head did they blow?

I reckon most posters are just anti dumb and PTP are setting new standards for dumb moves.

Live with this government is more than difficult but we can have some fun voting for the most obedient devotee: My vote goes to bula. It does not matter what the fugitive, the clone, Chalerm, the red-shirt MPs and all the others do. Bula will always find something positive about it – even if he has to twist the facts to the max. Bravo bula!

#36: True Thais are loyal to the kingdom, the fugitive and his cronies are only loyal to themselves.

bula dis#21 , You Make It Sound Like ALL WHO ATTENDED , WERE `BOUGHT And NOW OWNED ?

Genuine Flood Victims That Lost Almost All They Own Get 5000 Bht (IF They Ever See It), PTP and CROC Get 20,000 Baht Per Head , JUST FOR LUNCH !

Disgusting Behavior And Really Unacceptable , When Concidering That 815 Thai Families Are Still In Mourning AND FOR ALL SHE KNOWS , The Great 2012/13 Flood Could Be 3 Times As Bad !
    WHO`S SHE KIDDING ?
    Oh !

bula D36 : You are so funny. Do you actually believe the inane comments you post or are you some type of crazy web troll?

Bula - "Flood victims who are loyal and love the country do not want to be the tool for the oppositions to incite discontent. They are willing to go through with the government during this difficult time..." firstly I find incredible that you are so arrogant that you speak for the flood victims.
Secondly, "reconciliation, peace, progress and prosperity" - Jatuporn? Nattawut? Thaksin amnesty? How do they bring about reconciliation? Peace? The southern insurgency has exploded out of control since August. Progress? Tablet computers? Blocking Twitter and Simsimi? Prosperity? Their mismanagement of the floods wiped out the healthy economy Dems left them with.
I look forward to the day your eyes are opened.
