Yingluck urged to silence rumours over hotel visit

The Democrats have demanded that Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra clarify her visit to the Four Seasons Hotel last week that led to her absence from a meeting with House legislators.

If the premier keeps silent about the purpose of the visit, she may be a further target of rumours that she might have held secret talks at the hotel on "vested interests" in state flood prevention plans, Democrat spokesman Chavanond Intarakomalyasut said yesterday.

Ms Yingluck earlier said she was "free to meet anyone" at the hotel, which is a public place, and insisted her visit had nothing to do with irregularities.

Ekkayuth acted under instruction. He was spotted stalking PM by authorities. He and his witness should cooperate with the police. He said that his attacker tried to draw his gun and that he knew the attacker. What he said during his press conference were recorded and the press have reported what he said among other related incident. The rumours were created and spread by the DEM to incite suspicion. There is no need for PM YS to enter into endless argument with the DEM. The matter is best left to the authorities concerned.

Ekkayuth was the head of the controversial Charter Investment pyramid scheme, which collapsed in 1983. He fled to England in 1984 to avoid charges. Ekkayuth then invested the proceeds of pyramid scheme in a chain of oriental supermarkets and is estimated to have accumulated a personal wealth of billions. In 2004, after the 20 year statute of limitations was exhausted, he returned to Thailand.

Anything positive to society the "democrats" have to offer to Thailand?
