PM: Hotel meeting not secretive

Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra said on Monday her meeting with a group of businessmen at the Four Seasons Hotel on Feb 8 was open and there was no conflict of interest.

Ms Yingluck was responding to questions by reporters about the controversy surrounding the meeting with the businessmen, particularly Srettha Thavisin, president of property developer Sansiri Plc.

"In fact, the media knew well that we went there openly. I can assure you that there was no conflict of interest involved," she said.

"Please understand that there are many people who want to give their opinion without wanting anything in return. Today, we still have many other things to do. There was no conflict of interest. There was nothing personal."

If the meeting is not "secretive," PM YS should be able to reveal fully the nature of the meeting and what was being discussed there, right? Unless, it was about sensitive matters concerning national security, then it should remain secret. All I want to know is whether PM YS went there in her official capacity as PM of Thailand or not. If not, what was she doing there, that is what the general public wants, and has the right to know.

Didn't the right honorable madam prime minister, when asked by the reporter on day one, reply that there's no meeting at that hotel on that day? So, who is it that create this toxic secretive atmosphere? Who isn't telling the truth?

The cctv video was convenieantly erased so there is no way to visually prove what everyone says was on the take.

If this was just a routine meeting to listen to opinions, then why was it not held at government house so it could be confirmed as being open, and why was it so important that her regular duties were ignored in order to attend this meeting.

If this was an open meeting then it should have been held at government house, not in a private room at a hotel, and then the security video recording who actually attended to be erased, and not in accordance with the hotel's routine security procedures.

What is being hidden if this was an open meeting in a private hotel room? This was more than just a meeting to hear opinions or it wouldn't have been held in such a secretive manner away from government house, only brought to light because of an alleged assault on someone who can identify everyone, and saw those attending, but now with the cctv security tape erased contrary to what regular procedures are for the hotel, there is no way, other than visually by different people, to confirm who was there.

Is there a 5 star hotel in BKK? If they are, guests should be ableto get into the building without media/public being aware. People cannot hang around in the Lobby without having a room booked, or arranged meeting with a guest, or thrown out. In London, NY, etc., the lobby's would be full of Papparazi, so that's why 5 star hotels have rules. Oh, this is Thailand 5 Star.

RE: D2....are you so naive as think that the PM could walk through the lobby of a 5 star hotel for everyone to see if their was something to hide? I hope not.

The invitation meeting should take place at a government building, appropriately, whether the opinion officailly needed for input! The information should provide to media to report the matter after the meeting. For public acknowledgement, a government official routine meeting, with private group or not, should set forth its standard.

Not bad, it only took about two weeks to get a (believable?) story together.

Ah, yes - Skype. The one web-enabled service they don’t seem to want to ban/block. Funny that.

DEMs get frustrated as they are unable to find out what's going on at the Four Seasons Hotel.
