29 projects costing B1.6bn approved

The cabinet on Wednesday gave the green light for the implementation of 29 projects worth about 1.65 billion baht as proposed by provinces in the Northeast, acting government spokeswoman Thitima Chaisaeng said.

Mrs Thitima, the PM's deputy secretary-general for political affairs, said originally 190 projects were proposed by provincial governors to cabinet members during their visits to upper and central northeastern provinces.

The cabinet, however, gave approval for only 29 projects worth 1.65 million baht, she said.

Nothing for Buri Ram? Drought happens once a year so there is only one crop of rice each year. Floods kill one crop of rice and aid money is available. Money should be spent on irrigation so everybody gets two crops of rice every year.
