Thaksin: I won't take any political post

Deposed prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra said he will not take any political post on returning to Thailand but would only give his younger sister and Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra advice.

Thaksin was speaking on Sunday morning after offering alms to 265 monks at Angkor Wat in Siem Reap along with a large number of red shirts and political supporters from Thailand who travelled to Cambodia to give him a blessing on the occasion of the Songkran festival.

He said he had long wanted to return to Thailand from self-exile, but had not done so because the atmosphere had not been favourable.

gleentea D13 - "His parties were convicted of election fraud."
False. Two members of the party were convicted (under questionable circumstances). The entire party was then dissolved. You know what they call a government which forcefully removes all political opposition?

D11 ,you are right. The Dems lost a golden opportunity to reduce the inherent imbalance in the results when they were sorting out electoral boundaries.

bikeme # 9 - Thaksin does not rule PTP. He gave advice and has influence. PPP and the cabinet make their own final decisions. Thaksin is popular and become 'god-like' due to the hard work of Thaksin's opponents and anti-Thaksin elements. Your allegation is the result of your own imagination.

gleentea #13 - False, TRT/PPP were not convicted of election fraud. Executive member of TRT committed the fraud and 2007 was applied to the whole party on a wrongdoing committed before that. PPP executive committed the fraud and the prosecution witness later confessed that he was bought to give false witness.
What you quoted were not proofs but the outcome and imagination from what you quoted.

Why would he take a step backwards, from a situation where he has total, opaque, and unchecked control to one where he has to be publicly accountable for his actions?

gleentea D13 - Then there would be PTP members going to Dubai to beg their master for a piece of the cabinet pie. I guess if Thaksin is not the one cutting up the pie, then they wouldn't be there.

When Thaksin is back in Thailand, not too many of the DEMs will have the guts to take up political posts to continue their rentless attack against him like now.

Too right TS won't take any political post when he comes back. He has a 2 years gaol term to start off with and a backlog of other charges to work through.

    bula,

"The promises of Thaksin benefited the people, or else TRT/PPP/PTP would not be winning election again and again."
False. His parties were convicted of election fraud.

"Give readers the proof that Thaksin "already running his government from the PM headquarters in Dubai.""
There is plenty of evidence if you care to look, such as his own statements "Yingluck is my clone", "I handpicked Yingluck for the post of Prime minister", "Thaksin thinks, PT acts" and instructing the cabinet via Skype.
