Bills debate postponed indefinitely

A meeting of MPs of the Pheu Thai Party has agreed that the debate on the four proposed reconciliation bills should be indefinitely postponed, reports said.

Pheu Thai MPs met at the House No 111 Foundation to discuss what to do next after the parliament building compound was surrounded by yellow- and muti-colour shirt protesters on Friday morning.

PM’s Office Minister Woravat Auapinyakul said the meeting was being postponed to help ease the situation.

The entire parliament session was postponed as PAD protesters blocked off all of parliament, only allowing opposition MPS to enter:

In 2008 the PAD attempted the same, but police forces cleared the blocked roads. If parliament does not convene three times in a row it will be dissolved - the PAD goal. Will history repeat itself?

Maybe they are more worried that the red mob will run riot again and thus damage what little, if any, credibility Thaksin/PTP have ?

D16@mitrapaap - agreed particularly when the issue is reconciliation and healing the wounds of the past. By the way they approached this PT have managed to turn reconciliation into a divisive issue almost impossible one would have thought. Wise leaders know that just because you can do something (in this case force through a reconciliation bill) it does not mean you should. Strength is often shown by not doing things. I expect this is only a temporary respite - and will watch for Khun Chalerm's bill (not one of the 4) to break cover as the answer

subcoman D13: because no government should be able or allowed to impose its points on 30% of the voters. A government needs to respect the minority and find deals that are acceptable to all. As simple as that.

Is that possible to explain to some, such as discussion 7, that it is not a schoolyard with non arguments as "you did first and worst so I can do it also".

When you ask for order and law all year round for your opponents but you think that it is all normal that a group who represents only 30 % of the voters keep elected MP's from voting you show that all your rhetoric is nothing else that polical opportunism.

There is no urgency... Wise decision, if true

Discussion 1 : of course post noted just for a moment.

Why the coalition PAD/Dems who represents 30 % of the voters could always impose their points to others ?

Here we go again. Bypassed occupying Government House this time, and headed straight to blockading Parliament. How long before they take over the airport?

It is a pointless bill to begin with. How can you legislate peace? Hell, even the politicians can't act peacefully. This bill has no urgency whatsoever to anybody but Thaksin. Get to helping the country!

I think the PT MP 's know ver well what will happen if they forcibly push through their " Whitewash Bill"... Chaos, more and more violence and finally the necessary intervention of our army; the only institution that can save this country from abolishment of all law and order, from all abolition of all checks and balances...from the return of dictatorship...
