House sittings off indefinitely

The future of the government's contentious reconciliation bills and constitutional amendments is unclear following a decision to postpone House sittings indefinitely.

The People's Alliance for Democracy declared victory after its yellow-shirted members foiled attempts to hold a House meeting to debate the reconciliation bills on Friday.

On Saturday PAD leaders called off rallies planned for the coming week but warned they would return the moment lawmakers attempted to revive any legislation they oppose.

bula - "They were there for debate, scrutiny and make changes."

Then you should have absolutely no problem with the Constitutional Court perusing the bills and decide on their constitutionality, not parliament.

android - "Discussion 91 snap said the right thing. Many posts written here by some pro-dem/yellow frequent commentators are in fact slanderous, vulgar, violent and with overbearing language...."

I think most reasonable and logical people commenting on this board would come to the exact opposite conclusion. You sound like Thaksin used to when someone ask him a question or said something about him he didn't like. Sue them, threaten them, get up and walk out, shut down their TV or radio station or they'd just plain disappear. Ask Somchai.

jib - "Except that the UDD were demanding elections"

Funny that, then why when they were offered and AV offered to negotiate with red shirt leaders, did red shirt leaders turn him down? Because it didn't fit their agenda.

Does this mean that parliament has no business to attend to other than the amnesty bill? There is NO other business of importance to the country? Really.

brillaint #86 - Which one are u referring to? The charter amendment bill or the 'unity bill'? These two were presented to parliament according to the constitution. They were there for debate, scrutiny and make changes. It is the Prachathipat party's 'poor me a minority' mentality that resulted in their use of parliament hooliganism and the use of thugs. If they continue with that mentality, they will forever be a 'minority'. Even if they manged to grab power through the backdoor, they will make sure that they crack down oppositions brutally to protect their 'poor me minority' mentality.

Thaksin does not need whitewashing. Crimes were committed to get him convicted. It is the other way round.

Discussion 91 snap said the right thing. Many posts written here by some pro-dem/yellow frequent commentators are in fact slanderous, vulgar, violent and with overbearing language....just like the attitude behaved by those DEM MPs in the parliament a few days ago.

1 – All persons deserve a fare trial in court and appropriate sentencing. I never said Thaksin should walk
2 – The reconciliation process will be the same regardless if Thaksin is part of it or not. The issues affecting the UDD and their supporters are the same or very similar to those of Thaksin
3 – I believe the first 2 readings of the bill have already happened. What is wrong with letting Parliament vote to allow the bill back on the table for the 3rd reading for a frank and open discussion?
4 – Under the PT lead government, Thaksin will play a key role with the continued development of Thailand, regardless of his location. It would be foolish for PT to cut ties with Thaksin.

pjt 83 - But S165 does not allow for a referendum to change the Constitution. Also, it explicitly says 'A referendum shall not be held on an issue specifically relating to any individual or group of persons.'

snap 89 - Half of those publications you listed were banned/censored in Thailand (by the Dems, of course).
