Kanit: Don't rush reconciliation bills

Kanit Na Nakorn, chairman of the Truth for Reconciliation Commission (TRC), has issued an open letter calling for the government and parliament, particularly the ruling Pheu Thai Party, not to rush the four reconciliation bills, to reduce tensions and help prevent the possibility of violence.

He said in the letter that the TRC was worried by the political developments between May 30 and June 1, fearing they could lead to another round of conflict.

Mr Kanit said the government and parliament, particularly the Pheu Thai Party which has a majority in the House of Representatives, not to rush the reconciliation bills through the House, to prevent further conflict in society.

"The Constitution Court, in particular, should be extremely careful in making any ruling in this situation, otherwise the people may lose their faith in the judiciary, the legal system, and the rule of law, he said."

Yeah if the court is really impartial. But it would bring more chaos and conflict if not carefully ruled.

The government and parliament should instead arrange forums where the public to voice their opinions on the bills. The people should also be informed of the bills in detail, and about the proposed amnesty for political offenders.

The PTP won't even let it be debated in parliament much less in a public forum. And they sure do not want the public to know the details of the amnesty for political offenders.

How can they call these "Reconciliation bills" when their main intention is to desolve all responsibility for crimes commented by a Political Party. The should be called "Pheu Thai Criminal Freedom Bills"
