Go ahead and let it lapse. If there is this much distrust in America then go trust the Chinese. Burma is opening up and will alter the whole area sooner than later. There will be another game in town besides Thailand. A deadline has been set and Thailand will make a miss.

The controversy, as I understand it is that the Pentagon is supsected of secretly being behind the NASA request, obviously the US denies secret plans for U-Tapao.

It's no secret that the US wants to use the Asia-Pacific region to sustain their leadership, secure their own interests, and advance their own values.

Key to all this is that, weather matters and satellite observability is connected to a perceived weakness of US Missile Defense systems AKA Star Wars. NASA has a very close working relationship with the Pentagon, for a civilian organization!

Please let us know what benefit does this project have for all the Thais. Mr. Prompong please don't talk for the sake of talking.

Thai government has to maintain a good relationship with China for the economical betterment of the country. The NASA scheme will certainly be dropped irrespective of the DEM opposing voices.

The USA has given Thailand a deadline to make a decision, and if the Thai Government can't make the decision on time, then may ben lai (nevermind), the USA should stick by its commitment and find another location. USA shouldn't waste tax payers money waiting around for Thailand to dispute their political problems. I'm sure there are other suitable locations in the area.

The government's challenges to the constitution by bypassing parliamentary procedure are now so frequent they're practically a weekly occurrence. This issue has been on the books for many months, and yet Pheu Thai has stalled on it until now, just days after the recent parliamentary session closed. Why ? Not only do they not want a parliamentary debate, they are actually outraged with the questions that are arising with this issue and any issues that might be tied to it. There's now a perception of secrecy about it, a factor that only they themselves can blame.
