Court balks at Jatuporn bail explanation

The Constitution Court cancelled plans yesterday to explain why it initiated a petition seeking the revocation of bail for red shirt co-leader Jatuporn Prompan in a terrorism case.

The court said its petition seeking revocation of bail was pending deliberation by the Criminal Court and it did not wish to interfere in the judicial review.

"The Criminal Court has scheduled a hearing on July 23 [on the petition]. To ensure proper judicial process, the Constitution Court has decided not to comment," a court statement said.

Lack of a police investigation against defamation, filing a petition directly to Crinimal Court without being reouted through the Attorney General, these are improper legal proceedings that render the Constitution Court's petition invalid.
