Korkaew threatens to seize judges

Reds warn of 'people's arrest' if ruling negative

Security has been beefed up at the Constitution Court amid fears the red shirts will come out in force and try to capture the judges if they view tomorrow's verdict as very negative.

"They will file treason charges against the judges. If police refuse to arrest them, the people will do it themselves." -  KORKAEW PIKULTHONG, PHEU THAI LIST-MP

Pheu Thai list-MP and United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) co-leader Korkaew Pikulthong said Wednesday the red shirts would definitely refuse to accept the verdict if the court ruled that the charter amendment bill aims to overthrow the constitutional monarchy and seize power by unlawful means.

The scary part is that all the Government officials are accepting what Korkaew is doing; could be seen as negligence.

Personally I can live quite nicely here amidst military intervention. Can't you? And why can't you when everyone else can?

The only downside during the last coup was, I couldn't watch the premier league live for a week. Ok I got over it. Then everything was rosy.

Strangely, many of the most vocal red shirt apologists that post here are quiet. Either they realize that there is no defense for this man's action or the internet is down in Cambodia.

peterd - "while some posters can write 3/4 posts of the same indigest propaganda in the same discussion."

Once again a red shirt apologist explains their version of "democracy". If you don't agree with me you're an elitist and post "indigest propaganda". Funny, I thought Belgium was for real democracy.

EPAKOLS D42: "How can you tell ordernary people to respect the law, when the ruling partys Member of Parliments does not!"

Did you say they in september 2006 when the military toppled a democratically elected government via an anti-constitutionand ILLEGAL coup?

They even knew it was illegal because after tearing up the first ever internationally recognized people's constitution the military had their own immunity from prosecution written into the new constitution.

Then they told the people to vote to accept the new constitution or not. However, there was a condition. If they accepted it new elections would be held within a year. If they rejected it, the military would retain power.

AL the problems since then have been the result of this military intervention; the 20th in 75 years!!!

Dick Farang, I know of 6 countries where the death penalty for treason still exists ( inc UK ), military coup is not treason any EU state, but it is punishable by prison sentances.

    @ Discussion 71 (bern1005):

The (up to now last) military coup took place in 2006.

In 2008 the “yellow shirts” seized both Bangkok airports.

The democratically elected Pheu Thai party is trying to change back the constitution that was enforced by the unelected military junta to one that was previously democratically put in place.
So what is the problem ?
In any "developed and democratic" country the military would not have been able to take over power in any case.
That is unless you are basing democracy on the governments of Burma and Cambodia etc

    @ Discussion 72 (bkkfarang1):

In most “Western Countries” death penalty is abolished.

In most “Western Countries” a military coup is considered “Treason”.

The last military coup in a “Western Country” took place in Spain on 23rd February 1981.

Miláns del Bosch, Alfonso Armada, Carlos Fenollar and Antonio Tejero Molina were sentenced to thirty years in prison.
