Korkaew threatens to seize judges

Reds warn of 'people's arrest' if ruling negative

Security has been beefed up at the Constitution Court amid fears the red shirts will come out in force and try to capture the judges if they view tomorrow's verdict as very negative.

"They will file treason charges against the judges. If police refuse to arrest them, the people will do it themselves." -  KORKAEW PIKULTHONG, PHEU THAI LIST-MP

Pheu Thai list-MP and United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) co-leader Korkaew Pikulthong said Wednesday the red shirts would definitely refuse to accept the verdict if the court ruled that the charter amendment bill aims to overthrow the constitutional monarchy and seize power by unlawful means.

Looks like another well paid sharply dressed thug doing his master's bidding. This isn't about democracy is it?

Basically his statement is Treason, something that still carries the death penalty in Western Countries. He should immediately be arrested. The PT with people like this must be disbanded immediately.

PT have stated publicly that everyone should accept the court's judgement so they should discipline or expel Korkaew Pikulthong. Threats of violence are unacceptable and if PT fail to condemn this then they deserve to be disbanded.

True separation of powers and an impartial judiciary are essential to a functional democracy. The 2008 coup was only justifiable if you accept that the entire Thai legal system is open to improper political and financial influence. It would be nice to believe that now the legal system can be trusted. But have things really changed?

Many successful democracies in Europe have a constitutional monarchy and their citizens enjoy peace.
Democracy in Thailand is not jeopardised by it's monarchy but by both it's "ammart" and their political opponents.
"Sinatrawa" isn't interested in democracy but in wealth, power and dictatorship.
I feel really sorry for Thailand that is betrayed by it's own leaders.
The monarchy keeps Thailand together and is therefore absolutely necessary.
Without the monarchy, civil war is looming.
Both Taksin and Korkeaw should be in jail for misleading Thai people for their own benefit.

And madam PM, what she has to say as one of her own MPs is threatening judges ?
    Nothing. This speaks volume.

No legitimate Government would allow it's judiciary to be threatened in this manner even if the members of that court are from an opposing political party. The fact that the rest of the current Government is tolerating these threats prove it exists only for the benefit of one person.

As head of the elected government PM Yingluck has a duty to publicly deplore the statements made by Korkaew Pikulthong. His statements weren't opinions, they were a call for anarchy. So why is the PM staying quiet? Is there something we don't know?

When the next military coup happens, I hope that the UDD and PTP can look back and see where their undemocratic behavior led to. They will have nobody but themselves to blame.

That's the danger when courts operate beyond it's legal mandate. Already previous polls have showed people have low confidence of the court. Now this will only fire up the discontented and made them highly dangerous. Thailand really need a judiciary that is neutral and fair. The courts are our only last bastion of hope for democracy when all the politicians are self-serving and corrupted.
