Yellow shirt's lawsuit against ex-PM fails

The Appeal Court has thrown out a lawsuit filed against former prime minister Somchai Wongsawat, a former national police chief and three police officials in connection with the Oct 7, 2008, anti-government protest dispersal.

The lawsuit was lodged by Sithiporn Phothisoda, a lawyer who was among the yellow shirts protesting against the Somchai government outside parliament.

He accused Mr Somchai, former police chief Patcharawat Wongsuwon, former deputy police chief Jongrak Jutanont, former Bangkok police chief Suchart Muankaew and deputy city police chief Amnuay Nimmano of abusing their power and causing him injuries during the protest dispersal.

Using tear gas to disperse conglomerated protestors is a normal anti-riot procedure adopted in many other countries. Yellow shirts are so naive to presume that they are privileged to not facing the tear gas.

If the courts would've ruled in Sithiporn's favor then it would've set a very expensive precedent. Somchai's government used tear gas to disperse protesters as do most other civilized governments. Abhisit's government stepped it up a few notches by using snipers to disperse protesters.
