Jatuporn's bail reviewed today

Constitution Court says criticisms were a threat

The Criminal Court will today review red shirt leader Jatuporn Prompan's bail after he was accused of breaching his bail conditions.

The Constitution Court initiated a petition to the court seeking the revocation of bail for the former Pheu Thai MP after he criticised the charter court's decision to review petitions against the government-sponsored charter amendment bills.

In its bail petition, the court said it regarded Mr Jatuporn's criticisms as a threat, violating a condition of his bail prohibiting him from disseminating information in a way that may damage court procedures.

redview - "I live in Thailand and I know smoke when I see it. It is not for nothing 90 of their compatriots died at the hands of coupists"

That statement alone shows you don;t know the facts. And having the name redview, but denying the 2010 protests were about red shirts seems a little odd.

Redview Disc.38 of way too many. Please stop saying 90 of their compatriots blah blah blah. It is sad that 91 died but many were journalists, army, innocent bystanders not just some trumped up number. What were these mystical modifications to the offer for an election, think carefully before you answer. If you are Thai then you should understand that the Elite indeed did and do tromp on rule of law and anything they consider "beneath" them. If you are Thai and intelligent you would realize that Thaksin is one that also tromps on the law and anyone he considers "beneath" him, which incidentally is everyone. Read a little history and you will see a parallel to a group of brown shirts and black shirts which were sort of eventually united in a less than savory undertaking.

BKK FARANG rarely misses an opportunity to belittle and speak down to the common people. Here he makes a snide comment about how they are not tax payers. Well beside the fact there are many red shirt tax payers, instead of arguing the point I would turn his argument against him:

If the farmers and workers were paid decent wages...they wold be paying more taxes!

But the extra wages they deserve but do not get paid go where? Into the pockets of their employers, who know how to avoid paying taxes in general, relying on their accountants and lawyers to help them pack their piles high.

So in a roundabout way yes, the low salaries of workers and farmers means less taxes get paid. And the rich get richer.

Disc46 Redview - Let me just put some of your Red Propaganda to bed.
    1) Before the coup there were widespread people's demonstrations against Thaksin's corruption and human rights abuses. The coup did not just materialise out of thin air. Thaksin brought it upon himself.
    2) 92 people died. The first of which were soldiers killed when they were attacked at Phan Fa - Col Romklao was assassinated and grenades were launched. Red Shirts drew first blood. Thaksin continued to raise the stakes for martyrs to parade before the cameras. If UDD had held a peaceful protest, no-one would have died.
    3) So far Abhisit's security forces have been blamed for 22 deaths. During Thaksin's reign, close to 3000 people were killed in the 'War on Drugs', Krue Seh, Tak Bai etc. Thaksin killed 130 times more people than Abhisit. But you only value UDD lives.
    4) Early election were demanded. Early elections were granted. There were no concessions to Thaksin's criminal charges so they were refused.

@redview #46: Sorry I did not know that there are any taxpayers mixed up with the red shirts. I guess you refer to their leaders which are also MPs. I guess they pay tax on their salaries even if they don’t work much for that money.
Or are the red shirts demonstrators now officially employed by the UDD to show up regularly at all their wonderful demonstrations for democracy?
P.S.: There would have been no reason for a coup without Thaksin and all his “honest mistakes”.

Re disc.45...."Without him there would not have been a violent demonstration"

Without the coup, there would not have been a violent attack by coupists on taxpayers who did not accept their power-grab.

Some facts concerning chickens and eggs, cause and effect, and all that good stuff.

@Redview #38 you write: “It is not for nothing 90 of their compatriots died at the hands of coupists. Objective historical data such as that keeps things in perspective.”
Your post is a wonderful example of the red colored “objective historical data”. Where did you learn how 90 of your compatriots died? In a red village? Officially the verdict is still out but it is already official knowledge that not just the military was armed and shot people at that “peaceful demonstration”. Your hero Thaksin sent people to die for him in April-May 2010. Without him there would not have been a violent demonstration and without that there would not have been any dead. These are the real facts, accept them!

to#38 Redview : "90 of their compatriots died at the hands of coupists"
You need some more details because you got a wrong lesson of History...
About 90 dead, the amount of 92 is more used, but doesn't matter !
From the 92, there are some policemen in duty, some soldiers in duty, some reporters (Italian and Japanese) on duty, theye are some passer-by on the way to take metro at Saladeng station, they are some nurses on duty......then there also some redshirts on holding Bangkok in hostage...
Sorry but all dead were not red compatriots.....

Characterizing the UDD Red Shirts as in Disc. 40, demonstrates a reality in Thailand. A reality associated with arrogance slandering and vilification coming from a sense of contemptuous political self-importance by the elitists opposing the UDD/Red Shirts. Trying to deny them political space and awareness by suggesting everything they do is mindless, paid political activity, and as blind followers. There is also a concerted effort to frame their response to being attacked from which they suffered 90 deaths, as being anarchic rioting for no cause. Dismissing their minimal fightback as coming from violent characteristics while painting the coupist attack as being a crackdown on civil unrest, devoid of its' political intent. Yet it is those people denigrated by the electoral minority, who are the electoral majority.

Democracy dis#39, you need another lesson. Taksin won the 05 general election with a landslide leaving the DP with a paltry 96 seats. That was also the period that Ahbisit took over the party leadership. A democratic election was indeed held and monitored by various international monitoring teams. And a coup is a coup whether it is bloodless or bloody. The definition is the same ' overthrow of a democratically elected government by military force'.
Banmebkk dis#36, suggest you check any public domain information and try to find any reference or mention of UDD or Red Shirts from 2001-2006. Also There are enough information on UDD not happy with Taksin but it does not mean they will not support him as they hate Ahbisit, army, PAD, Amart etc more.
