Democrats query graft buster's transfer

The Democrat Party on Monday expressed concern over reports that the chief of the Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) may be transferred following his investigation into several corruption cases involving politicians.

PACC secretary-general Dussadee Arayawuth is expected to be transferred to a deputy permanent secretary post when the Justice Ministry's reshuffle list goes before the cabinet for approval tomorrow, a ministry source said.

Department of Special Investigation (DSI) deputy chief Prawet Moolpramuk is tipped to replace Pol Col Dussadee.

Just two weeks ago, BangkokPost claimed he was 'making little progress':

    So which is it?

"Democrat MP Suthep Thaugsuban said the PACC is examining and exposing widespread corruption"

Ha! I'm amazed. I thought the red fanboys would steer clear of this one since their favourite party is implicated in many of the cases being investigated. But no! Not only are they on here, they've come up with another ridiculous conspiracy theory for the transfer!

Of course, it couldn't be anything so simple as Peua Thai don't want to get caught with their fingers in the pie, could it?

I can see why the Democrat is complaining and probably sweating as Pol Prawet has been very successful in overseeing the 2010 military investigation. Dussadee has been too slow and comfy with the land investigation in the south especially Phuket. Simply said, he under-performed.

Politics as usual, for an indication of where this is all heading, look at the DSI itself. Give the new guy six months and I bet all the corruption cases exposing members of the present govt will be on the back burner but corruption cases against the previous govt will be investigated with a vengeance.

Khun Arayawuth's activities of rooting out graft and corruption in the public sector seems to have alarmed those who are similarly involved and or benefit directly or indirectly... The transfer is obviously intended as a warning to those who want to ... 'Screw the lid back on the cookie jar'.

don't get your panties all in a bunch, this is the annual re-shuffle of senior positions, and it is normal to transfer/promote those at the top in order to "keep them from having too much influence and power" in other words make them find a different channel to tap into the tea money river.

The speculated transfer/appointment of Department of Special Investigation (DSI) deputy chief Prawet Moolpramuk to replace Pol Col Dussadee is worrying the prachathipat because they are worrying that he will exposed more of the corrupt practices involving them. The anti corruption measures of the government led to the cooperation of the public and the success of PACC. With the 'fresh man', he has no baggage with him.

    Two points:

Firstly the PsACC is tasked with routing out corruption in the public sector only. Any case involving Politicians has, by law to be transferred to the NACC. So any transfer will have zero effect on political corruption cases.

Secondly, Dussadee Arayawuth has worked diligently for several years in the PsACC, he certainly deserves a promotion. It is encouraging that soemone is viewed for promotion for their work ethic, rather than seniority or who they know...

Not only the Democrats query this move, most with more that half a brain do as well. The more things happen which are considered disrupting the graft busters the quicker the end comes. Its a bit like to Roman Empire it imploded because of graft and total disrespect for human values. The money god is killing...
