Chalerm fumes at budget cut for riot control police

Deputy Prime Minister Chalerm Yubamrung has demanded the Budget Bureau explain its decision to slash the Royal Thai Police's (RTP) crowd control budget.

Chalerm: Wants better gear to calm crowds

The RTP had sought a 440.1 million baht budget for riot control and allowances for 55 companies of crowd control police.

    I'm with the Budget Bureau on this one. I would take it a step further and totally withdraw and funding from the Police for crowd control. I have been here a long time now, and I haven't seen or heard of the Police actually doing any crowd control at all, ever, anywhere. Certainly not in 2009 or 2010.

    Of course he fumes, since all police is nowadays used as a political tool to intimidate and harass the dems.... they have always been watermelons and now start acting as true allies to the red mercenaries''''' Poor, poor Thailand
