TRC 'downplays' state violence

Pro-red shirt academics and activists criticised the Truth for Reconciliation Commission of Thailand's (TRC) report on the 2010 riots, saying it downplayed the state role in the deaths of victims during the protest.

While the TRC's report attributed several of the deaths to the "men in black", the commission has never explicitly explained who these people were and why they were there among the protesters.

Phuangthong Phavakaphan, a Chulalongkorn University political scientist and a member of the People's Information Centre (PIC), said her centre, which conducted a separate investigation, has never denied the existence of these men.

The reason they were not arrested is they were PAD members who refused to show thier face. They blended in with the red shirts to discredit the reds and allow the army to shoot live rounds.

'....ignored the red shirts' demands to dissolve the House and hold elections'. Duh ! They were offered an early election : Thaksin turned it down.

For political science or law academics they are pretty naive. There is a pre condition to every charge or accusation here, in this case 'what were they doing there in the first place, why did they entrench themselves for so long' of course there was going to be an attempt to remove them, of course they were going to resist, of course there was going to be violence, so who set this whole thing up in the first place. The red view take us for fools, thinking we wouldn't spot the obvious hidden agenda to force the army to spill blood. I'm sorry, but their argument is full of holes and suspicion.

The Truth for Reconciliation Commission put more emphasis on "Reconciliation" and less on "Truth" and got neither. I remember that Kanit had a difficult time in recruiting members for his Commission. This is very understandable as they would be in an unenviable position of trying to justify the murder of unarmed civilians by the military and the Democrats.

"Blame the mysterious Men in Black" seems to be the path they decided to take.

"While the TRC's report attributed several of the deaths to the "men in black", the commission has never explicitly explained who these people were and why they were there among the protesters." Do this red tainted so called academics think the MIB were there on a PR tour, or would gladly tell the world who paid them and what was their terror mission ???...or let themselves be captured??? Silly logic and red denials...simply pathetic!

When so called academics have such a red painted brain that they start thinking like the red villagers then Thailand has a serious problem...Their excuses are pathetic... IF the reds were violent - of course they were...the government should have arrested them...who?? The watermelon police or the army with red bullets flying around their ears?? And demanding an explanation "who these people were" to whitewash the MIB....let her ask it in Dubai.. HE knows !
