CSD stand-off erupts in violence

Red-yellow tension seen escalating, unity elusive

Confrontations between the red- and yellow-shirt groups are likely to intensify after yesterday's clash outside the Crime Suppression Division (CSD) left scores of people from both sides injured.

Yellow- and red-shirt supporters throw objects at each other and trade blows in a clash outside the Crime Suppression Division office on Phahon Yothin Road. The yellow shirts turned up to support a woman summoned for questioning over the alleged harassment of red-shirt activist Darunee Kritbunyalai. SURAPOL PROMSAKA NA SAKOLNAKORN

The clash erupted around noon during a stand-off between red shirts and yellow shirts who had gathered outside the CSD.

Many of those people (from both sides) are not demonstrators for a cause but troublemakers who just enjoy violence. We had this kind of “activities” some time ago in Germany until the police stopped it by using force to disperse those rally’s and making arrests.

This box is headed "What do you think"? I think Thailand needs to grow up, starting with a revision of the LM law so that it cannot be used as a weapon. Thailand is a nation divided unto itself, which to me is another way of saying a failed state. Thaksin is no longer the cause, he was simply the catalyst.

'Ms Darunee filed a defamation charge with the CSD against Ms Manasnant, who was summoned for questioning yesterday.' 'Neither Ms Manasnant nor Ms Darunee showed up at the CSD headquarters yesterday.'

How can the accused get away with failing to appear at court after a summons?! Would foreigners get away with that? I don't think so.

It's not fair for strong physique issan red shirts vs peace loving yellow bangkokian elites in yesterday's street clash.

I love the photo of the super intelligent fellow who is about to sucker punch another guy... who is wearing a HELMET! I wonder how many metacarpals he broke.

On another note, both sides need to grow up and act like adults. This is childish and pathetic. It would be nice to see everyone who was caught fighting sent to prison. It's on film, so that's the undeniable evidence.

Like most problems in Thailand proper law enforcement would have stopped this before it started .The problem is we don't have proper Police .

Please note that the damage to the truck windshield was done by one person wearing a white golf shirt. I do not condone it but don't see how it morphed into a group of yellow shirts. Also, as an aside, why does the Red Shirt radio station advertise in English both on their truck and at at least the one site I have seen in Lam Luk Kha?

Redshitrs will always win on any fight against their opposition because they have mastered (gold medal) the threatening, intimidation, invasions, raiding, burning, incitement.

..UDD chairwoman Tida Tawornseth, however, said yesterday that the situation would not spiral out of control. The UDD has urged red shirts to toe the line and act within the law.

A law that will only benefit and benefits itself. Redshits you have severely damage your bad record. LOL

The riots might have ended over two years ago but the split in society is stronger than ever and the country is a powder keg waiting to explode. The problem is that neither side has even the slightest interest in the others point of view and absolutely no compromise is possible. Thailand has a very, very dark future.
