Pheu Thai MPs to lobby Thaksin in HK

Northeastern MPs of Pheu Thai will meet Thaksin Shinawatra in Hong Kong this weekend to lobby for more cabinet seats, a party source said on Wednesday.

About 20-30 MPs from Khon Kaen, Udon Thani, Nakhon Ratchasima, Ubon Ratchathani and Nong Khai provinces will try to convince the fugitive former prime minister to increase the ministerial portfolios for the northeastern region from five to six or seven seats, the source said.

Pracha Prasobdee, the Pheu Thai representative for Samut Prakan, said he had heard some of his fellow MPs talking about the trip.

'... will try to convince the fugitive former prime minister...'

Thank you BP for reporting facts. The man is a fugitive; not just from 1 conviction but the other charges that are waiting for him should he return without a whitewash. If he is innocent as he claims he is why then does he not come back ?

Why can't any body going to see the boss be booked for aiding and abetting an escaped criminal as in most other countries? There has to be some underlying reason.

Last week ex-PM TS said his "little sister" is doing a good job. The PM of the country referred to as "little sister" tells us all we need to know about who is running this place. Why the Bangkok Post continues to give this convicted felon who fled the country rather than face the justice of his beloved country !!! any press is ridiculous. The PT has the votes so just push the amnesty through, bring him back and let him run the country from here. The government could save billions as I'm sure that somewhere the costs of all these trips are being paid for with taxpayer money!

D@20, fundeena "Yes" TS is the 'real' boss and it is no secret. That's how the people who voted felt. I guess that the military coup (that so many posters here favored) was not such a big success. It delayed but did not deny the very popular TRT, PT, etc. parties from governing!

All rubbish of course. Once you add the airfare and even one night in a Hong Kong hotel not forgetting the airport-city transfer, it will be cheaper to buy an iPhone in Thailand. Just shows you how stupid politicians take the public to be. Another insult

@johnb #19: your “best politician” could be in the country. Nobody keeps him out of it!
And if he would have accepted the supreme court’s decision a couple of years ago then he could be even a free man in Thailand now after he served his jail sentence. Thaksin likes to compare himself with Nelson Mandela who spent 27 years in jail – and his conviction was actually politically motivated. So can’t Thaksin handle even 10% of that? Or even 0.01%?

As we say in NZ "yeah, right" ... what I truly cannot understand is how Mr Pracha would think people are so stupid that they'd all really believe him?

The fact that these Pheu Thai Party MPs are running like spoilt children to Thaksin because Yingluck won't give them cabinet seats emphatically confirms that he, not she, is the "de facto" Prime Minister of Thailand.

I wonder if they realise how truly foolish, and pathetic, they look!

Disc # 19: I was going to respond to your comments, but in truth it's not actually worth trying because you will never change your thinking ... so let's just agree to disagree!

The iPhone 5 must be a magical device to justify so much money and time to get one. I use a smart phone (it does not really matter which) for less than 10,000B and it does all I want and need and a lot more. Would I be able to make somehow better phone calls with an iPhone? Would my messages look more beautiful?
The only reason I can imagine to get that phone is the show effect with a certain kind of people. But if a top politician or businessman needs the latest phone to impress anybody … you know.

Less than 2 hours before this article, it was reported "The NBTC reported on Wednesday that it has approved Apple Inc's request to sell its new iPhone 5 smartphone in the country. Prices of iPhone 5 should be close to iPhone 4s prices at 22,000 baht for 16 gigabytes, 26,000 baht for 32gb and 30,000 baht for 64gb, the NBTC said."

In any case, I am sure that he will declare his new iPhone to Customs upon arrival at Swampy, and there will be no saving at all. Surely he could have found a better white lie?
