Inquiry into Abhisit's 'draft evasion'

The defence minister has ordered an inquiry into allegations that Democrat leader Abhisit Vejjajiva dodged military conscription.

ACM Sukumpol Suwanatat said the Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy has been ordered to investigate whether former prime minister Abhisit, who is the opposition leader, should be charged with draft evasion.

He expected the panel to be formed within a week and begin working soon after.

t seems rather bizarre that a high government minister has nothing better to do than to try and revive an allegation, which has reportedly already been disproven, in an attempt to try to take away a low ranking military title from an individual who, to the best of my knowledge, never uses it. Meanwhile, no attempt has been made to take away the title of a certain legally convicted, fugitive holder of a high ranking police title, a title which is continuously used to add an air of distinction to someone who, by all normal criteria, should be, to put it politely, a source of embarrassment to any honest Thai policeman. Double standard perhaps???

D1 , why does AV have to prove he is innocent just because TS's staffers suggest he is not. They should put up or shut up.

IMO Sukhumpol is fiddling with this as a distraction because he has no idea how to win the Southern war

sounds like everybody here is crying because Abhisit is under attack. He constantly attacks his opponents and you support him by saying it is his job. The PT are just doing their job. Abhisit is a hipocrate and he will be tried in court not by Dems in the media.

This has been investigated several times before. I doubt AV is the least bit bothered. More mud slinging by an increasingly desperate Thaksin/PTP.

This tax evasion charge is nonsense. Everyone knows Abhisit was "drafted" by the army in December 2008 and given the rank of "Prime Minister".

The witch hunt continues. Surely the PTP have something better to do ... like maybe improving life here in Thailand for everyone ... like maybe improving education.

If the Defense Minister has so little to do in his position, perhaps that ministerial post can be dropped, save some salary & expense money.

The defence minister said it has yet to be decided who will head the inquiry.

    Thida maybe ?
    What a joke !

    AV for PM !

Do we really have to go through all this again? Hasn't this supposed Draft Dodging allegation been done to death last time, and found nothing?

Come on PTP, what happened to using your imagination, and come up with something original that you can try to pin on Abhisit. If you come up with something new, then maybe that will distract everyone from all the corruption and failures sponsored by your Govt.

Is it going to be an impartial panel assigned by the defence minister ?

The fugitive is desperately trying to find away to have Khun Abhisit to accept his white-wash.
