Newin: I won't return to politics

Newin Chidchob, a key member of the Bhumjaithai Party, has confirmed he will not return to active politics even though his five-year political ban ended on May 30.

He said this in an interview at his residence Thursday, where a large number of politicians, government officials and close associates turned up to wish him a happy birthday.

Mr Newin celebrated his 54th birthday.

As if Newin wasn't active in politics during his ban. As long as it is economically lucrative, Newin will be involved in politics - maybe not out in the open but definitely behind the scenes.

If true; good. He is better doing what he is doing. But will the acknowledged "Big Boss" do the same. Doubtful, Yet he holds the key: if only he were a bigger, more generous-minded man with Thailand's welfare in his heart he could make reconciliation come nearly true.

Yeah, and Lyndon Johnson said "I will not run for, or accept the nomination as the candidate for the Democrat party". and a few weeks later accepted the nomination.

Good on Newin for laying out his plan.

Pity his nemesis does not do the same and tend to his roses like he promised many times.

That would be a "cool" act Mr T, better than attempting another comeback like an old Las Vegas singer

Good! Too many old politicians have to go, create a vacuum so the a new generation can replace them and hopefully pull the country out of the abyss.
I hope many more will follow the trend.

Mr Newin celebrated his 54th birthday today. He said he would not return to politics because he is now very happy managing his Buri Ram United football club with the intention of encouraging Thai footballers to play professionally abroad.
yeah, mostly thai people see him supporting his own football club and have enjoyed it, helping children, eg. football academy. He stayed away from politics. I think he is serious with it.

What about the fugitive in dubai, what did he do? 2009, 2010 mayhem; im sure everyone remembers it.

"Newin Chidchob has confirmed he will not return to active politics."

We can expect to see him in Yingluck's cabinet soon, then.
