Democrat Party list MP Boonyod Sukthinthai will petition the House panel on parliamentary ethics to probe the House speaker's controversial study trip to Britain.
Mr Boonyod said yesterday that the inquiry by the House committee on parliamentary affairs found that House Speaker Somsak Kiatsuranont's study trip for academics and reporters followed proper procedures and receipts had been submitted for all expenses.
Although legal action could not be taken against Mr Somsak for the expenditures involved, the House panel should compile a report in order to make it clear that the overseas trip was inappropriate, the Democrat MP said.
