Court asked to stop Seh Ai's rally

Former senator Ruangkrai Leekijwattana on Monday filed a petition with the Constitution Court asking it to order Gen Boonlert Kaewprasit and Sqd Ldr Prasong Soonsiri to call off another rally planned for late this month.

Gen Boonlert's Pitak Siam Group organised held the first rally at the Royal Turf Club at Nang Loeng on Oct 28 with the stated hope of toppling the government.

Mr Ruangkrai said the Oct 28 rally might be an act of rebellion under Article 113 of the Criminal Code which prohibits people from using force or threatening to use force to tear up the constitution, topple the legislative or judicial power, and seize the country's administrative power. It provides for charges of rebellion liable to death or life imprisonment.

"If the court rules that Gen Boonlert and Sqd Ldr Prasong's action violated Article 113 of the Criminal Code, he would further ask the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) to take legal action against them, he said."

DSI had better get prepared for this next assignment.

It can hardly be called a peaceful protest if the aim is to instigate a coup to topple the legitimately elected government. Surely that is a criminal act within itself and he should be bought to justice if there is such thing in this country???

Hard to take all the "freedom of expression" nonsense coming out of the UDD seriously when they attempt to suspend the rights of others the first chance they get when someone says something they don't like. The government is run openly by a convicted criminal, why wouldn't people speak out against it?

this is what we called intimidation, its clearly abusing of authority, like what Mr. Thaksin has been doing in his government. He shuts up the critics.

There is no freedom of expression here. Good thing Mr. Boonlert didnt scream out to his followers to bring a billion of gasoline to burn bangkok.

Eric disc. 8. The problem was that the UDD wasn't demonstrating for an election. Abhisit had already agreed to its demand to bring forward an election date. The subsequent rioting by UDD supporters was nothing less than an attempt to overthrow a government in power by armed force. The Pheu Thai propaganda machine would have us believe that the Redshirts were just a peaceful bunch enjoying a picnic protest in the centre of Bangkok, but we know better!

What's peaceful about someone asking for a coup?

Why ask the court to stop a democratic freedom however if it gets out of control and cannot be quelled then just call in the army.

The intimidation of any opposition and media was the trade mark of the previous dictatorship of the fugitive. Nobody can be surprised watching history repeating itself.
