Court asked to stop Seh Ai's rally

Former senator Ruangkrai Leekijwattana on Monday filed a petition with the Constitution Court asking it to order Gen Boonlert Kaewprasit and Sqd Ldr Prasong Soonsiri to call off another rally planned for late this month.

Gen Boonlert's Pitak Siam Group organised held the first rally at the Royal Turf Club at Nang Loeng on Oct 28 with the stated hope of toppling the government.

Mr Ruangkrai said the Oct 28 rally might be an act of rebellion under Article 113 of the Criminal Code which prohibits people from using force or threatening to use force to tear up the constitution, topple the legislative or judicial power, and seize the country's administrative power. It provides for charges of rebellion liable to death or life imprisonment.

Clear difference is that the UDD call for an election while the Pitak Siam is calling for a coup. Simple to see the difference if you try. One is a democratic right while the other is inciting a military takeover of people's democractic rights.

Peaceful rallies held in a stadium for a few hours might be an act of rebellion? How does he define an illegal assembly of rioters holding a city hostage for a few months. Sounds nothing short of oppressing anyone who opposes the UDD/Red shirts and government.

I agree with disc1 to 3. This could be tactics though. They have to pull out. Someone else takes over making the government look bad so more people attend.

No freedom of speech here then.dose not put the country in good light when the PM is going to England to sell Thailand to the English. Neither dose the blatant parading of a convicted criminal in Myanmar.

    Good. Goose. Gander.

The only difference is that Gen. Boonlert and crew haven't threatened to burn down Bangkok - maybe because unlike the last mob that did that they actually live here...

The good old red censors strike again only red protests acceptable, hopefully this will encourage more people to participate

I wonder if he complains whenever the Red Shirts block the streets with their rallies. If the rally is peaceful, why should it be stopped? Is he worried that it might sway or even reflect growing public feelings about the government and affect Thaksin's chances of getting back?

So the siege and burning of Bangkok was fine, but a peaceful protest against this corrupt government is not?
