Dems rebut draft-dodging case

Democrat MPs are deeply concerned that political interference may have fast-tracked the process to strip party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva of his military rank and his salary to discredit the opposition before the Nov 25-26 no-confidence debate, MP Sirichok Sopha said Thursday.

Mr Sirichok made the claim a day after a defence committee set up to investigate the opposition leader in connection with alleged draft-dodging ruled to strip him of his sub-lieutenant rank and demand repayment of his salary earned from the army. The decision was based on findings that Mr Abhisit used a falsified military personnel registration document to apply for a job as a Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy lecturer.

The special committee said Mr Abhisit was given two weeks to clarify the allegations but he neither supplied information nor gave a statement to the committee.

Actually, we do not disagree that element of distraction could be part of the plan however would it not be better to come out straight when paper trail show otherwise? same like his British passport? Most reader know the truth and could have given him a thumbs up for at least being honest.

These are the kinds of privileges that the elite has always gotten....they are the entitled ones and it has always been that way. They likely do not see it as immoral, they likely see it as " I got the money, so why not us it to help myself?"
Lets be honest.... do most readers think he is guilty of this? probably (even if they don't admit it) and of those that think so..would you have done the same? (probably if it kept us out of the army) but the argument is credibility and truthfulness...he denies it and the paper trail is proving him wrong.

Imust be missing something here. Does it really matter whether the matter is fast-tracked or not? You're either guilty or you're not.

"The Office of the Ombudsman, on receiving the petition on May 22, immediately started to examine related documents...On receiving related documents from the defence minister, the Ombudsman would expedite the investigation because the matter was in the interests of the public..." - BangkokPost, July 19th, 2012

"Mr Abhisit said he personally believed that ACM Sukumpol's remarks concerning the Office of the Ombudsman's request for the Defence Ministry to send it documented evidence on the draft-dodging allegation against him were intended to help Mr Jatuporn in a legal case that he had filed against the red-shirt leader." - BangkokPost, July 19, 2012

Its pretty obvious that the theme of today was to discredit the opposition .Is it to distract us from the governments poor performance .That is also obvious .
