Far too much is being made of this. It shows the Thais inherent inferiority complex, that they have to get worked up about a fairly routine event in QEII's daily schedule.

She met Robert Mugabe at one time and even knighted him. Yet, she recently stripped him of his knighthood.

QEII meets all manner of people from scoundrels to saints.

Let us hope that Lizzie will explain to the PM that she does not need to force her citizens to love her by threatening any hint of less than perfect adulation with 15 years in prison.

Britian and the U.S at one time, welcomed Saddam Hussein, they welcomed Gaddafi too and ofcourse Assad of Syria. But when they did find out what these honored guests were up to or what they would not do for the U.S or Britain - you saw the results in recent months or years. This is not an honor at all, it is a move from the U.S and U.K to seduce, mould, loot and tame Thailand the way they want Thailand to be.

Once the meeting takes place it will become obvious for what reasons. Maybe it has more to do with the countries relationships rather than any one individuals popularity. Yingluck just happens to be the lucky PM and everyone should be proud of her.

I remember when Banharn referred to her as Queen Elizabeth Taylor. ;-)

You may well be right, I'm no expert in these matters, however I had assumed that it would be correct diplomatic protocol for a visiting Head of State to meet the Queen. I'm not sure that the same procedure is automatically followed for a Head of Government, wouldn't they normally just meet with the UK Prime Minister?. Anyway, it's good for Thailand's international image.

bkposter #8 "I believe the PT did win the election and did win it fairly. ( but used government hand outs to do it)" Now which way is it, this is a contradictory statement, you can't have it both.
