Pongthep: Abhisit not qualified as MP

Democrat Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva is not qualified to hold a seat in the House of Representatives because he has been dismissed from military service and stripped of his military rank, Deputy Prime Minister Pongthep Thepkanchana said on Tuesday.

Mr Pongthep said he voiced this opinion as a member of the Pheu Thai Party's legal team.

Section 102 (6) of the constitution regarding qualifications of MPs prohibits a person who has been sacked from the government service from contesting an election for the House of Representatives.  Mr Abhisit was in this category, Mr Pongthep said.

If AV is not qualified as an MP, I think we should replace every MP in the house seriously.. These men have no shame. What holds the future of this country?

AV is punished by the military disciplinary panel. The panel possesses a court martial nature that is independent in its administration. Other judicial courts definitely have no jurisdiction to overrule the military disciplinary panel's decision.

It would seem that the Pheu Thaksin is scared of the upcoming censure debate, as they are pulling out every dirty trick they can find to disqualify Abhisit. And doing their best to get it done before the debate starts. One could further surmise from this rush to action that 1) The Pheu Thaksin have great respect for (fear of) Abhisit's ability as a leader & debater, 2) That they are truly guilty of what the DEMS have charged, 3) revenge has replaced reconciliation in the PTP vocabulary.

You can't be the accuser and the judge at the same time. Let the court decide. Your leader and sponsor jumped bail and absconded, yet his rank's still intact!

    Pot calling kettle black.

The PTP is so afraid for what Abhisit will say during the motion-censure about Mrs PM. The PTP don't want to hear the Truth from the DEM's mouth... Killing the Abhisit's career is became a urgent needness...
But this ugly anti-democratic action from PTP could bring army to stage a coup...
