Chalerm: I'm Thaksin's servant

Deputy Prime Minister Chalerm Yubamrung insists he will not answer questions from the media if a Channel 7 reporter is among the interviewing group, and has admitted he has been serving fugitive former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra for a long time.

"From now on, I won't give interviews if Ms Somjit Nawakruasunthorn is in that particular group of reporters because I don't want to have a quarrel.

"I've been Thaksin's servant for a long time -- don't you know that?" Mr Chalerm told reporters on Monday.

I would be interested to hear from Jacksprat D39 if his comment was intended sarcastically or literally? I suspect the latter.

jacksprat 39, "What sort of man brags that he is someone's servant?"

What sort of man brags that he is someone's servant? Is feudalism still alive? Apparently so.

Perhaps Chalerm said what he did to make himself more popular? It escapes some posting here that Thaksin is more liked in Thailand than hated. The political party associated with him has won every national election since 2001. As for Thaksin being a convicted fugitive, I don't think it matters to much of the electorate. Respect for Thai court decisions was lost some time ago.

After the initial uproar over Chalerms statement, the fact that he said :"I've been Thaksin's servant for a long time -- don't you know that?" is actually very useful to both the Dems no-confidence motion,Pitak Siam's rally and everyone else who's opposed to this government. It proves beyond any doubt to the Courts that this is an illegal proxy government. I believe Chalerm knows that,so why did he say it? Many opportunities in this statement, which I doubt was just a blunder by Chalerm.

A public official admitting that he is secretly serving a fugitive criminal isn't instantaneous grounds for dismissal? What planet are we on?

So the servants of a convicter criminal are playing with our tax money only because their friends (supporters) gave them the majority in parliament. What is wrong if the leader of the 24 Nov protest says that he wants a military coup now? That would NOT be against the law as a minister from the current government openly admits that he is a slave of a Thai criminal on the run. Chalerm has made a BIG mistake by openly admitting this.

Disc32 - "it was a pointless question with no relevance."
No problem... I'm used to them.

So Chalerm is a servant of Thaksin. It would have been better if he said
he was a servant of the Thai people.
