Ombudsman asked to probe Abhisit

The Pheu Thai Party on Wednesday submitted a petition to the Office of the Ombudsman asking it to investigate whether Democrat Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva still qualifies as an MP after having been stripped of his military rank.

The petition was filed by Pheu Thai member Singthong Buachum and party lawyer Picha Wijitsilp.

Mr Singthong said Mr Abhisit also had an ethics problem because he remained an MP despite the removal of his rank, which in effect meant he had been dismissed from the military service.

I agree but, he really deserves a good probing. Don't you think?

'Ombudsman's spokesman Raksakecha Chaechai said the office has the jurisdiction to investigate Mr Abhisit's ethical conduct'.

While they are at it why not investigate Thaksin's ethical conduct or lack of ?

@discussion 3 - I have a friend who is a retired colonel in the Royal Thai Army. He spent his entire service as an English instructor. Should be stripped of his rank, pay and pension because he wasn't a combat soldier?

It seems to me that since Mr Abhisit was in the military and receiving a military salary, he was actually doing a satisfactory job in the military as a lecturer. He didn't actually dodge the draft did he. He may have used documents to get himself a better job in the military didn't he. No complaints about the job he did as a lecturer are there.

Instead of harassing the opposition leader to silence him maybe they could do a better job of running the country so he wouldnt have anything to complain about .
