Under-18s banned from rally (pix)

Three police command centres will be set up near the Pitak Siam protest venue to direct law and order procedures, and people under 18 will not be allowed to take part in the anti-government rally, police said on Thursday.

Spokesman Pol Maj Gen Piya Uthayo said the frontline command centres would be at Sanam Suapa ground (next to the Royal Plaza), parliament and Government House. They would be supervised by Metropolitan Police chief Kamronwit Thoopkrachang and 40 other police commissioners selected from across the country.

Each command centre would have 5-6 sub-operations units to screen people entering the protest venue, to ensure they do not carry weapons or prohibited substances. Pitak Siam security guards would help police at each checkpoint.

"He did not elaborate on what kind of "equipment" was involved."
May be he wants to mention 'tyres' like the red shirts used to burn during the rally, even young kids did help. The government can still see that footage on the TV and may be can arrest the parents of those young kids who manipulated the tyres.

Double standards! PTP protester age policy is 3+ years why can't it apply to other groups? Protesters just want to have a picnic in the city and see the sights like many of the UDD who brought their families.

More double standards and prohibitions against demonstrations imposed by the so-called "democratically elected" government. Then again, the UDD are ok with a tyranny of the minority, as long as it's their tyranny- only 32% of eligible voters voted PTP into power.

How do their age be check? If rally are indoor they might be checked the way they check tickets in movie house but this is outdoor rally. If you don't want to be democratic at least be realistic.

Another dictatorial way to prevent people to join the rally. The Red Shirts are allowed to bring their families, the opposition not.

My niece and nephew, 16 and 17 ½ years old want to join the rally, now they can’t join Pitak Siam on 28-11-12. What kind of democracy is this?

The fugitive's regime is moving quickly down the same dead end as last time. Today the coup is yet another day closer and despite their intimidations we will all stand up and send a clear message during the rally.

D16, you mean that it might follow the same peaceful path as the 2010 Red Shirt protests? If so, then there is nothing to worry about...

government knows that the organisers of this rally need it to turn violent and cause trouble or it will not succeed in it's aim so good idea to ban children from attending

D15, you mean it's easier on the mind hammering down protestors if you know there's no kids around..?
