Poll: Political climate improving

The country's political climate improved in November compared with the previous month, Suan Dusit Poll said on Saturday.

The pollsters at Suan Dusit Rajabhat University based their conclusion on their political index survey, which sought opinions from 7,031 people nationwide from Nov 25-30.

They reported that the political index rose to 5.24 points out of 10, from 5.14 points reported in October.

It said the respondents gave 6.05 points for the performance of cabinet ministers, 5.90 for the government's achievements, 5.35 for the overall economic outlook, and 5.16 points for safety of people's lives and assets. Any score above 5 out of 10 is considered positive.

Scores lower than 5 points, reflecting unsettled and persistent problems, included corruption, politicians' behaviour, social divisions, influential people, poverty, high living costs and unemployment.

In terms of regions, respondents in the Northeast gave the government 6.05 points, compared with 5.63 given by those living in the North, 5.29 from Central Plains residents, 4.44 from Bangkok residents and 4.00 points from southern people.
