Abhisit gears up to battle murder rap

Former PM says charges are politically motivated

Democrat leader Abhisit Vejjajiva says he would be ready to accept the death sentence if it was handed down to him as a result of the investigation into his government's crackdown on red-shirt protesters in 2010.

He was speaking after he and Democrat MP Suthep Thaugsuban were charged on Thursday by the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) with authorising the killing of anti-government protesters during the April-May 2010 political violence in Bangkok.

Mr Suthep was deputy prime minister under the Abhisit government and headed the Centre for the Resolution of the Emergency Situation (CRES), which was set up to handle the protests.

Disc 27 - Thaksin's conviction was non appealable, so he can't fight the conviction.

Recently dems are trying desperately to oppose the charter bill amendment that actually benefits AV and Suthep as well for their wrongdoings in the 2010 blood shed crackdown. Now the PT government chose to cancel this charter amendment movement, and so AV and Suthep can't be pardoned but to face the indictment for murdering. They chose this and they deserve to have it.

Now we do have to extremes in Thailand...One is the noble, honest and courageous statesman, the other is the evil man from Dubai....I think there are still some Thais with brains left to realize who is the best one for the country....

    D13@android
When will your superhero Thaksin EVER face up to reality.
He was accused, treid and found GUILTY in a Thai court under a government run by his brother in law. He asked for bail and got it, he asked to leave the country and return and got it.
He absconded from bail and became a fugitive and has not yet had the courage to return to Thailand which he can do at ANY TIME and refute the charges in court.
And you have the gall to say that Abhisit and Suthep have to face reality.
They will not run away and hide like cowards because they are honourable men.

Notice the way he doesnt lie to the court run away and divide the country .Thats the way the grown ups do it .They make the hard decisions and stand by them .Not cause trouble from abroad and have their family and the poor do their dirty work for them .

Disc 18 - Wouldn't Abhisit and Suthep have to be guilty of something in order to get a pardon? You don't ever see anyone pardoned for being innocent. So if they are guilty of something to be pardoned for, they should stand trial for it.

If they can have a show trial for a pm who appeared on a cookery show then why not have a show trial for a man who happened to let over 90 people die when he was in government. As i recall when the yellow shirts invaded the airport not one life was lost. Somebody should be held responsible.

Contrast this willingness to submit to a judicial process, even under circumstances where extreme efforts are being made to tilt the judiciary against him, with the convict on the run in Dubai. And the convict has the gall to encourage comparisons of himself with Nelson Mandela and Aung San Su Kyi.

Mr Abhisit, you would like to be a martyr ?, I don't thinks so. Whatever happens now you will always be remembered as a Tyrant.

"You must not fight too often with one enemy, or you will teach him all your art of war." Napoleon Bonaparte

By fighting the TRT/PPP/PTP, UDD/Reds and Thaksin through constant court proceedings and challenges rather than planning a battle he could win, Abhisit has now put his leg into his own trap.
