Police ready for UDD rally

BANGKOK - Police are ready to maintain law and order during tomorrow's rally by the red shirts of the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD), said Pol Maj Gen Parinya Chansuriya, deputy metropolitan police chief.

The rally, to be led by Pol Lt Col Waipot Arpornrat, Payap Panket and Darunee Kritboonyalai, is to call for the government to proceed with the vote in the third reading of the constitution amendment bill.

Pol Maj Gen Parinya said the red shirts would gather at the Royal Plaza tomorrow morning before marching past parliament, Government House, Democracy Monument, the Supreme Court near Sanam Luang and King Rama VI monument by Lumpini Park, using the Charoen Krung-Rama IV Road-Hua Lamphong-Lumpini Park route.

'Police patrols and traffic police would facilitate the march'

Facilitate - to make easier, assist in the progress. As opposed to impede like last week. Not too obvious.

How narrow minded can you be? This rally is NOT intent at overthrowing the government. As I recall the other rally as you call it was attempting to overthrow the government. 1 and 1 = 2

FYI it is against Thai law to overthrow an elected government in Thailand.

Disc 20, bluebkk. your comment "Actual Thailand is rotten to the bone!!!" is an insult to Thailand and all who live within, and proves without a doubt that you have preference from the Bangkok Post for being allowed to post such remarks. These are in line with many of your low line comments and derogatory messages.

The UDD rally does not call for a coup or topple the government. No big deal for the police.

I just wonder if they are going to stop the UDD from entering the city and from entering the rally like they did the last people trying to protest.

Can someone please tell me how a serving police officer is allowed to organise a protest rally? Or am I really dreaming?

Demonstration on Monday??? Apparently the reds don't have to work...no problem...they get more money from the great fugitive to protest than to work....the taxpayer is picking up the bill....Actual Thailand is rotten to the bone!!!
