The Pheu Thai Party yesterday failed to finalise its candidate to run in the Bangkok governor election.
Most Pheu Thai city MPs and councillors continued to back Sudarat Keyuraphan, despite preparations having been made for deputy national police chief Pol Gen Pongsapat Pongcharoen to be fielded.
The party meeting, attended by some 400 members, became tense when Pheu Thai secretary-general Phumtham Wechayachai announced that preparations had been made for Pol Gen Pongsapat, also secretary-general of the Office of the Narcotics Control Board, to run.
