Poll: End Thaksin TV problem

A majority of the people believe comments on former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra over the live broadcast of his speech from a Muay Thai event in Macau on Channel 11 were political, according to Abac Poll.

The poll was conducted between Dec 10-15 on 2,195 people in 16 provinces including Bangkok.

The majority or 75.4% of the respondents said the comments on Thaksin were politically motivated involving politicians who wanted to cover up their weaknesses, while 24.6% said they had nothing to do with politics.

More than one half or 56.2% said they wanted to see a quick end of this matter for not wanting anyone to mix loyalty to His Majesty the King with conflict among people in society, while 43.8% wanted the matter to be further investigated.

On what could bring about anti-government rallies, 60.4% pointed to economic problems, 57.4% widespread corruption, 51.2% constitutional amendment, 49.1% low prices of farm produce, and 40.2% interferences in the justice process and independent agencies.
