'Lackey' PM risks exile

Thaksin hold will break Yingluck, says Suthep

Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra will be driven out of the country unless she is able to shake off her brother Thaksin's influence, Democrat MP Suthep Thaugsuban said Sunday.

Suthep: ‘Truth’ push working

The former Democrat secretary-general said Ms Yingluck would end up sharing her brother's fate if she carried on acting as his lackey.

"johninbkk - can you please post some "facts" that are current and relevant? I can post "facts" from HRW and AHRW all day long that condemn Thakisn and his lackeys."

Talk is cheap, let's see your alleged facts.

Puethai and Yingluck are the fruits of the current Constitution. Why Puethai wants to kill one who gave birth to them? Why Puethai want to spend more than two thousand millions for public referendum? Don't they have nothing else to do?

I personally think that the current Constitution is good for the current politicians we have, because it maintain check and balance system that bad politicians want to get rid of it. I also think that certain article needs to be amended, but it is not a top priority at this time, not benefit the public at large at all. Charter change is a waste of our taxes money.

D3 It is OK for Abhisit and Suthep to be villifed by the PTP and the government for something that is patently obvious as a smear campaign but they are not to be allowed to say anthing about a convicted criminal fugitive who is running Thailand for his own ends. Talk about double standards.

I think that Yingluck will not be forced to leave the country but her life here will not be so happy.

I don't think that Yingluk will be driven out of the country, but I do think that it could happen again to Thaksin, if he manages to return by means of his self-serving strategies, because the chaos would become immense. It is obvious that Thaksin is doing everything for himself while saying it is for the farmers or whoever. I think that he is prepared to cause any amount of damage and worse in order to return. Hopefully, the rural folks are beginning to see this likelihood as Suthep suggests.

    "'Lackey' PM risks exile"

Let's see who is more likely to be in exile.

YS: PM from a popularly elected government. Strived to bridge the differences between the feudal lords and the masses. But accused of being related to a "fugitive" convicted of potential conflicts of interest in a public auction.

ST: Unelected. Came to power from a coup. Named by AV in BBC interview as the one who ordered the crackdown which massacred 92 and maimed 2,000 people. One of the biggest landlords in the restive South with a long string of corruption scandals which has brought a previous Dem government to its knees.

I think people are fed up with Suthep and Democrat talk talk talk about Thaksin all the time. I think Democrat should rewrite Charter with the word 'no Thaksin' in every paragraph..that would make them happy and move on to do other thing better for the country.

""If she continues to follow Thaksin's orders and protects his and their family's interests, she will face a public backlash and won't be able to stay in the country," Mr Suthep said."

I don't know about being run our of the country, but people will get tired of her governing in a manner which does not help them and only helps her brother. See the South, see the rice scheme rift with corruption and losses, see the flood mitigation projects rife with corruption, see her pandering only to those that might vote for her and her brother. How sad.

"We will fight to protect the rule of law..." - Suthep, above

"Ultimately, the notion of a constitution being replaced by military force is—from the perspective of human rights, justice and the rule of law—an absurdity. While government propaganda in Thailand may persist in trying to give the appearance of a decent and harmless coup, the effect of removing the paramount law of a country by force is to make clear that the country is lawless." - Asian Human Rights Commission, 2007
