34 years jail for blinded PAD supporter

The Appeals Court on Thursday handed down a sentence of 34 years imprisonment on a People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD) supporter who was previously given a suspended jail term by the Criminal Court.

Preecha Treecharoon, 53, was charged with attempted murder, illegal assembly and causing unrest in connection with the yellow-shirt PAD rally in front of parliament on Oct 7, 2008.

Wow. Never broke the law before and given three years for breaking a policeman's leg. Fair enough. Sentence suspended. No, that shouldn't have happened, so the prosecutor was right to appeal. Then the government changes and his sentence is increased to 34 years. Now that's corruption and injustice. Some dark times are coming for Thailand.

A small but very belated step forward. It seems a bit rich to hand down a 34 year sentence to a PAD supporter who was blinded during the PAD protest, whilst the PAD leaders are still awaiting trial, never mind sentencing. And what has happened to the charges against the PAD leaders responsible for the closure of the airports?

Whilst we are watching the circus of Thai justice, do you think Thaksin will ever face justice for all those who died under his "leadership"? Once that happens then I will begin to believe that there is justice in Thailand.

Hopefully we will see some charges against pad leaders for the closure of the airports. Similar charges of terrorism have been laid against UDD members, many of which are behind bars with some of the leaders out on bail. It’s time for the pad to pay their dues.

D1 : You will post a similar comment when UDD face justice, yes?

Trial postponed 15 times since 4 years because "police din't get reports from witnesses" and a PAD key member who is getting close little by little of being sentenced 30 years of jail without any repercussions for him.
What is acceptable by some for the yellow shirts would be, without a doubt, not for others...

Wow! From suspended to 34 years. Thai justice in action.

He was defying orders to disperse when he was injured by exploding police gas grenades, which killed one person and seriously injured others. He has no right to complain. Uh ... wait a minute.

It's about time the PAD had to face justice for their actions!
