Democrats to run Sukhumbhand for second term as governor

MR Sukhumbhand Paribatra, the incumbent Bangkok governor, was on Thursday selected by the opposition Democrat Party to run as its candidate for a second term in the gubernatorial election scheduled for Feb 17.

The selection of MR Sukhumbhand came after more than three hours of a tense meeting of the executive committee chaired by party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva.

    Disc4 RabMadar - Funny, but Bangkokians seem to like him. In poll after poll he comes out the clear winner. And seeing as Bangkokians are the ones he represents, I'd say their opinion counts. And seeing as they've seen him work for four years, they'll have a better understanding than you.

    Most of us remember him as the guy who stood up to the idiots who wanted to flood the capital city to be 'fair'. I wonder which side of the fence you'd have sat on that one.

    With the Dems choosing Sukhumbhand, the PT will have a much better chance at pulling off a victory in the governor race. Obviously this will depend on their choice of candidate.

    Pity, we need some new energy and ideas for BKK. Sukhumbhand has been particularly disappointing. A real low achiever.
