'Patriots' to sue over temple row

A civic group affiliated with the yellow-shirt People's Alliance for Democracy will file a petition in the Criminal Court accusing the Foreign Ministry of providing false information to the public in the Thai-Cambodian Preah Vihear Temple dispute.

The petition will be lodged with the court on Monday, Jan 14, said political campaigner Chaiwat Sinsuwong, leader of the Khon Thai Rak Chart Raksa Pandin (Thais who love the nation and the land) group.

Yellow "patriotic" PADs are starting to making another trouble again trying to embarassing the government. Two naive yellow PADs are still suffering in cambodian jail and being ignored by their PAD core members.

I guess it's safe to say that there will be no early release for Veera and Ratree.

True. since it was then the Thai government who elevated this conflict to the international court of Law, it is then proper and humane act if both Thai and Cambodia will respect whatever decisions the ICL will decide. It is obvious to any person who went there that said temple was built by the Khemer way back when we were not yet born. This is a thing of the past, we don't have any rights to declare as ours by just merely basing on our opinions. Allow more people to help us solve this case that if we want to promote peace and unity among us. We have nothing to lose or gain if we just let that Temple exist as it is. Make that place unite us

D#16 If you mean that temples in Lopburi (for example) belongs to Thailand because they're inside national borders then you'r right. But if you mean that Khmer Empire didn't owned them then you're wrong. Most of the present Thailand (as far as Andaman Sea) belonged to Khmers. When many of this temples were build Thai tribes were fighting rebellion against Han Chinese in Southern China before being pushed toward present Laos.

BTW. There is relief on Khmer temple in Angkor from 12 century showing small group of newcomers who settled in Lopuri area. It's the oldest historical record about Thai settlers.

    fungus,

"Cant all the nutjobs in Thailand use their resources for more important things like improving the education system, cleaning up drugs, and solving the daily bleeding in the South?"

You need to ask the ones presently in charge.

D#21 Cambodia(Khmer) didnt invade Thailand. Thailand was part of the Khmer Empire intil the 1400. Thailand rebelled against the Empire and created their own nation. This is what was written in the history book. When you see the Temples or Wat built by Khmer thats becuase they lived there before the Thai. Remember that the Khmer Empire existed for a very long time. Most people in the Cambodia-Thai border speak Khmer because that was there primary language not Thai.

D#17-- There no need to dig in the past history about SE Asia. Just because Thai once claimed that area and lost it it does not mean that it belong to Thai. Think back a bit further, the Khmer (cambodia) ruled most of the land in the present SE Asia. I don't favor Cambodia or Thai but if you read the ICJ ruling carefully,it actually talked about the land in that area(As stated in map 1:200000 scale). If the area is awarded to Thailand then the Temple goes to thailand. If the area is awarded to Cambodia, then the Temple goes with it. But this is not the case, the Temple went to Cambodia but the land went to Thailand. You see the problem?.

Glad to see that the Post put the word "Patriots" in quotation marks.

The PADsters and their ilk might truly believe that they are patriots, but their actions consistently prove otherwise, however "noble" their motives might be.

D16, many architectural buildings like wats in the north are Chiangsan Period, Chiangsan if I understand is no longer part of Thailand, You meant those wats must have been built by Burmeses were considered not belong to Thailand because Burmeses built them. When aggressors win the wars they brought the artisans ,cultures, alphabets and many other things that are good for the countries. Khmer's architectures in Lopburi doesn't mean Khmer owned it.Thai government house is deffinitly not Thai style so it is not belong to Thailand. Is it? Get real!!!

At one time, the Khmer Empire had ruled vast extent of land over and/or vassalized parts of modern-day isaan-district, east-Thailand, land of Bangkok, Andaman Sea coasts, and Malaysia, southern Vietnam. But now, Cambodia has not insist it that"The land of North-east and Central-area was a land of Cambodia. So, return that area to Cambodia." But they say nothing about it until now.
