Nitirat group proposes amnesty for political offenders

The Nitirat group has proposed including an amnesty for political offenders in the government's constitutional amendments.

The amnesty would reach back to the 2006 coup and would involve all offences by protesters which had taken place since then.

The group of Thammasat University law lecturers presented the idea yesterday at the university. It is one of several reconciliation proposals the group is promoting. The group ultimately backs a broader goal of writing a whole new charter to repeal the consequences of the 2006 coup.

We should just let those accused of any crimes have their day in Court and let the judges decide, based on the evidence prestented by the prosecutors and the defense lawyers.
Otherwise,we might as well disband the whole justice system and let committees run the show.
The proposed set-up of in this committee obviously intend to ensure that Thaksin supporters will be granted immunity while the previous government and it's supporters will not.
This would seem fair to the pro-Thaksin mob,but it is just what you'd expect in a dictatorship.
I recall I once read that UDD was against dictatorship, yes? Or was it other dictatorships but not your

It is truly sad to see a bunch of so-called academics come up with such a preposterous red idea....Why they not simply speak like the red villagers and demand the opening of all prison gates?? LOL
