Sudarat backs Pongsapat in governor race

Abhisit chides him for running as ONCB chief

Pheu Thai Party elder Khunying Sudarat Keyuraphan has backed Pol Gen Pongsapat Pongcharoen's campaign for Bangkok governor.

Khunying Sudarat was once tipped as a candidate for the governor race but later withdrew. She said she is always willing to help the party, but warned she may be rusty as she had stayed away from politics for quite some time.

Khunying Sudarat yesterday attended a meeting of the party committee drawing up campaign strategies for Pol Gen Pongsapat, who is contesting the governor election under the Pheu Thai banner.

"Pol Gen Pongsapat should follow the footsteps of the Democrat Party's nominee, MR Sukhumbhand Paribatra, who resigned as Bangkok governor before his term ended, Mr Abhisit said." Right - Sukhumbhand resigned only 2 days before his term ended. And the only reason he did that was under the BMA Act, in the case of an early resignation, the election must be held within 60 days instead of 45 days - which probably benefits Sukhumbhand more.

"Democrat Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva yesterday called on Pol Gen Pongsapat to explain why he is running in the governor race while retaining the post of the ONCB secretary-general"

It seems to me Mr. Abhisit should have greater concerns about his personal situation. He has been charged with murder, but retains all political activities. I mean, murder is not a minor offense. If there was not such a culture of judicial double standards here, he would have been behind bars. It's about as significant as any criminal charge can be. It seems to me he should govern himself accordingly and relinquish all political roles pending its' resolution

Disc 1 - The Dems just aren't that creative, just look at their policies. Oh wait, they don't have any.

Bangkok doesn't need extravagance projects like Skywalk, Bangkok Eye or superficial projects like bicycle ride while footpath is sieged by vendors. Anybody who can reclaim footpath, provide hawker food center, group up market vendors back into the market, enforce parking and building code will get my vote. Just do simple jobs exceptionally good. Remember if you cannot even complete a white elephant arena how can you do a metropolitan.

Don't you love the airbrushed posters of the PTP candidate, smooth brow, perfect teeth ,silky black hair. Contrast that with the posters of the Dem candidate, what you see is what you get. Tells something to me/
